Taking it day by day

School brings a lot of stress. All the homework assignments, tests, and the constant pressure to do good in school, can really affect your mental health. That’s why I think it’s important to sometimes block that stress for a moment with your favorite activity or hobby. Whenever i’m feeling really stressed because of school or whatever the circumstance is, I like to go ride my horse. It takes my mind away from whatever is going on that really brings me down. I like to close my eyes and breath in the fresh air and in that moment, all the stress seems to go away. I forget about that one test coming up or that missing homework assignment. Sometimes, I choose myself and my well-being before school. Whenever I don’t go riding, I like to listen to music and go for a walk around my neighborhood. I have started to do this recently and it helps me get through whatever I may be going through. I plug my headphones in and start walking. I like to do this because i’m relieving stress and being healthy at the same time. I also just take it day by day. One of my teachers once told me that, and it has stuck with me. Take everything slowly and don’t rush, while making sure your not overwhelming yourself. The point of this though is that your mental health comes before anything else. If something is really affecting your day to day life negatively, don’t be afraid to take a break.
