The Simplicity of Spiderman

Our finite lives. The world revolves around our finite lives. But it feels at times where all we do is work and work, like we are some sort of machine, all for monetary value. The days become tedious, as it feels like we are repeating the same motions over and over again. Sometimes we just need to unwind and take a step back. And that’s where this graphic novel comes into play. I’m not going to lie, this is a very simplistic comic. It is clearly designed with the intent for young children to read. However, that very simplicity elevates this as unique among the other graphic novels. For example, there are numerous graphic novels that have deep and thought provoking themes and topics, while this has a bright, colorful superhero beating up bad guys. Does that devalue this graphic novel? Absolutely not. We need this simplicity in our busy, everyday lives. Reading novels about the problems of society is good, but it is just going to engross you into all the faults in our world. All we need is a little distraction from the chaos in our lives, and I believe that Spiderman is the key to all of this.

Spider-Man's First Comic Appearance Sells for Record Price - Nerdist

I am by no means a huge Spiderman buff. Far from it. I’ve been exposed to it from time to time, notably in the greatly successful MCU, but I understand the general gist of the character and to advocate on behalf of the graphic novel. Spiderman is a superhero that tries to live a normal life. In the novel, we can see everyday life of Peter, as he juggles between his everyday life and his superhero duties. We can all relate to trying to balance the chaos in our lives, just to a less drastic degree. And even though I am not the biggest Spiderman fan, data shows that Spiderman is one of the most recognized characters in history and relate to him in some shape or form. On Google Statistics, it displays Spiderman as the most searched superhero ever. This shows how many people relate to Spiderman and its inherent simplicity.

So who exactly is this novel for? Well, I believe that anyone can read this, regardless of age. Adults are children at heart after all. If you are into simple and easy to understand novels, this book has you covered. It contains simple vocabulary, unlike other graphic novels, making it suitable for all ages to read. If you love superheroes, or action in general, then this is the perfect book for you. But most importantly, if you feel the pressure of the world weighing you down, then read this graphic novel. It may sound silly, but I can assure you, this provides as a great and short distraction from the chaos of everyday life. Due to its simplicity, you can read in 5-10 minutes and move on with your day. But I can guarantee that it is a fun and short read in the life of Spiderman.
