Colorblind: A Story of Racism

Hi, my name is Kenny Nguyen. I am currently a sophomore at Fountain Valley Highschool, and in my English class, we are created an elevator pitch about the graphic novel we are reading. These are some reasons why you should read called Colorblind: A Story of Racism.

Pathos: This graphic novel expresses the injustice people of color experience in the world. In the novel, the main character, Jonathon Harris had always looked up to his uncle. His uncle during Jonathon’s whole life had lived in prison. The day after he visited his uncle, the police invaded their house looking for Jonathon’s uncle. At 6:30 in the morning he received a knock on the door and his family was faced with guns and handcuffs. This makes you really ask, will racial injustice really go away?

Logos: If you like learning new things and information, this graphic novel is perfect for you! Not only does the graphic novel shed light on the harsh realities of racism and prejudice, but it also offers insights into how these issues have impacted individuals and communities on a personal level. Through the use of vivid illustrations and engaging storytelling, the graphic novel provides readers with a powerful and emotional journey that will leave a lasting impression.
